BrightBuilt Home Review

BrightBuilt Home is a prefab and modular home designer based out of Maine, specializing in environmentally friendly home design and construction. Their ‘Net-Zero’ homes generate more power than they consume, meaning that home buyers experience lower utility costs and optimized energy efficiency.  BrightBuilt manages the design, construction and installation of the house and then one of their partner builders finishes the houses and connects it to utilities after it is in the ground.

Most home models feature attractive farmhouse or New England Cape-style designs with plenty of sunlight and open space thanks to the interior lofted layout. BrightBuilt Homes are moderately sized — currently, their smallest unit is the In-law Flat & Guest Suite, which measures 560 sq ft and their biggest base model measures 2200 sq ft. BrightBuilt also customizes existing homes and designs custom homes to clients specifications.

Strengths:

  • Energy Efficient - the entire homes are crafted to be “Net-Zero” and this permeates the designs, construction techniques, appliances used and most other major decisions

  • Aesthetics - the homes have an attractive farmhouse-chique  look to them

  • Low cost to maintain - low energy costs and modular construction mean the homes should be low cost to maintain

Reasons they may not be for you:

  • You are located outside of their delivery radius of New England and the mid-atlantic

  • You want a home with a more mid-century modern contemporary look
