Can I buy a prefab tiny house?

Pretty much every tiny home is a prefab home, so it’s actually hard to find a tiny home that is not prefab. Prefab, definitionally, means that all or part of a house is prefabricated off-site, which basically covers all tiny homes.

Buying a Prefab Tiny House

If you want to know where to start in terms of buying a tiny home, you can check out our reviews of many of the top tiny home providers or our lists of best tiny homes by state.

The key thing to be aware of before purchasing a tiny house is: “Is how you want to use a tiny home in line with what your local municipality will allow either legally or practically?”

Assuming that’s the case, then we typically recommend you buy a home by either:

a. going directly to the manufacturer you like OR

b. Send us an email and ask us for personalized recommendations based on factors like budget, location, style preferences, and project nuances

Beyond that, the other issue that many people will want to figure out is how to finance a tiny home. For that, most people will be able to use an RV loan, but there are a range of financing options. RV loans are appealing for many though because they have long loan terms (20 years often) and relatively low rates compared to other financing options available such as personal loans.
