Plús Hús Review

Plús Hús is a 320 sqft ADU that is a collaborative project between Minarc, a design firm, and mnmMod, a structural insulated panel (SIP) manufacturer. With three different variations on the Plús Hús, all using the same modern, 320 square foot shell, they range from the Open, a 320 sqft room/studio, to the Full which includes a bathroom and kitchenette. When purchasing a Plús Hús, finishes are included in the purchase price and when applicable, include a tankless water heater, stainless steel appliances, cabinetry, and stone countertops. Additionally, both the interior and exterior walls use mnmMod’s wood-free, highly-insulative SIPs. This means that the Plús Hús is better suited to resist fires than a traditional, site-built ADU. On top of that, the Plús Hús is built as a net-zero building.

From a logistical standpoint, the Plús Hús is delivered to the final site as a panelized kit. For projects in the Los Angeles area the Plús Hús team can work on the entire project from start to finish including site work, laying a foundation, assisting with permits, and final assembly and finishing. Because it is sipped as a set of flat-packed panels, the Plús Hús can be delivered throughout California.

Strengths:

  • The Plús Hús is built using fire resistant and highly-insulative SIPs

  • Projects within the Los Angeles area can be completed turn-key by the Plús Hús team

Reasons they might not be for you:

  • You are looking for an ADU larger than 320 square feet

  • You would like to modify the floor plan
