Samara is a new prefab housing startup based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their focus is on being a turn-key provider of modern, pre-designed ADUs. Currently, they offer two models of auxiliary dwelling units: a 413-square-foot studio and a 529-square-foot one-bedroom unit.

Stylistically, Samara’s ADUs blend traditional ranch architecture with the refined simplicity of contemporary architecture. While buyers are unable to develop a custom floor plan with Samara, they are able to personalize certain elements of their ADU. This includes exterior and roof color, window and door placement, as well as the option for zero, partial, or full-solar.

From a logistics standpoint, Samara is a turn-key housing provider. This means that they manage all stages of the process, which includes: completing an initial site visit to ensure suitability and develop a more accurate cost estimate (approximately two weeks after creating an initial design), develop a site and solar plan (one week later), prepare a permitting package (one week later), prepare the project site (approximately five months later), ship the completed ADU (approximately two weeks later), crane-in and finish the ADU’s installation (several days later).
