Plant Prefab Review

Plant Prefab is a prefab home manufacturer based in Southern California. As a manufacturer, they can either work with outside architects and designers or you they build the designs of their in-house design studio, LivingHomes. It is important to note that while they once used to serve individual buyers, they now operate as a B2B company, working as a manufacturing partner for builders and developers.

As an offshoot of LivingHomes, Plant Prefab uses environmentally friendly building practices and sustainable materials when possible. And as a manufacturer, outside builders can utilize Plant Prefab’s services to manufacture custom prefab homes in their large and environmentally friendly factory. This is a unique benefit to the prefab community as smaller architects now have access to a sustainable manufacturing facility.

One final notable aspect of Plant Prefab is that they are funded by venture capital funds and private investors including the company, Amazon. This hasn’t had any obvious effects on their service yet and they aren’t the only Prefab company to be funded by venture capitalists.

Strengths:

  • Homes are built using environmentally friendly building practices and materials

  • Quick on-site assembly times (as fast as one day)

Reasons they might not be for you:

  • They are a B2B company, meaning that they do not work with one-off customers. Instead, they work with builders and developers

  • You live far away from their Southern California manufacturing plant
