Purcell Timber Frame Homes Review

Purcell Timber Frame Homes is a prefab luxury home builder based out of Nelson, B.C. that serves Canada and all of the U.S.. Purcell only builds the shell of homes, meaning they manufacture the exterior of the house, but do not make or install most of the inside or the systems of the house including, plumbing, drywall, electrical, kitchens, and bathrooms.  The high-end dwellings are built to withstand harsh weather anywhere, with a particular specialty in building homes for vacation landscapes such as mountain or waterfront homes.

Purcell Timber Frame Homes come in a wide variety of styles, featuring traditional and contemporary designs, with exposed timber framing a common theme. Homes come in a variety of sizes from small single cottages to luxury family homes well over 3,000 sqft. Purcell also designs custom homes.

Strengths:

  • Great variety of plans - they have a wide variety of plans and aesthetics including some homes made for sloping lots

  • Great for snow areas - they specialize in building for canadian mountain areas, so the homes will stand up well in areas with significant snow loads

Reasons they may not be for you:

  • You don’t want to hire Purcell for the exterior and another company to build and install the interior and systems of the home

  • You are looking for a homes that doesn’t have the wooden features or aesthetic of most Purcell homes
